Aug 2-16: London

Summing up London, by Mick

Hi all,
Although the big city of London has been fun, all of us want to get out to the coastal countryside and somewhat relax. Some sights that we have seen in the past couple of days are: Tower of London, Windsor Castle, Tower Bridge, The London Eye, The Wallace Collection, and a second trip to the Portobello Market (again I got the amazing street fries that consisted of french Fries, bbq sauce, and cheddar cheese. Yum!).

There was one event that was my favorite since my last post: The day was almost done after we visited Windsor castle and taken the short train from Windsor to the main station. We quickly got off the train, eager to catch the next one home to London Paddington station. The station we were at was a station where some trains didn’t stop. As we were walking we heard a train honk, warning us it wasn’t stopping. It proceeded to barrel through at 80 mph and scared the —- out of me!! Anyways, our next destination is Cornwall, on the southwestern tip of England where I will do another post on our whereabouts.

Until next time, Mick

Aug 7: London

Likes and Dislikes So Far, by Mick

The first stage of our trip, London. The ten-hour flight was tiring and left me the most tired I have ever been in my entire life from the lack of sleep on the plane. I am rested now and here are some of my likes and dislikes of location one: London
(this list is not necessarily in order).
Likes:
– Fish and Chips, Harrod’s, The Tube, double-decker buses, lots of Porsches, IRN BRU (Google it), Street Fries from the Portobello Road market.

Dislikes:
-Blackurrants, jetlag, and fruit and nut muesli cereal

Until the next location… Mick

Aug 1: Serene Lakes, Lafayette, OAK

Life in Storage, by Cathy

August 1st at last. Here’s  how our day went. Woke up in beautiful Serene Lakes, packed our bags (3 carry-on & 2 “personal items”), and drove to our storage unit in Benicia. Drove the car in, disabled the battery, and closed the door on all our stuff. Ubered to Lafayette, where we dropped off some things to the safe deposit box and picked up a few things at our mail center (Ian & Sue are the best! – handling all our mail for us); disabled our US cell ph #s at the AT&T store; and finally hopped on BART to OAK. Arrived in plenty of time for check-in/screening and with a last “I can’t believe we’re actually doing this” and a deep breath, boarded our (Boeing 787 Dreamliner, much to Mick’s pleasure) Norwegian Air flight to Gatwick. It’s official.
